Proceeds will go to the production company, which started as an attempt to both create things that Sabala and crew have always wanted to see in film, writing, and art. They are currently working on a series of short horror and dark comedy films. So far on the bake sale menu are red velvet cupcakes, Scones (plain, cherry, and lemon), cookies and muffins. Hot chocolate will also be sold – all reasonably priced.

Peer Advisor Update: If you are interested in being an Honors Peer Advisor for the Spring 2010 semester, we are seeking applicants to fill an open position on a volunteer basis. If you are looking for this kind of work experience and are interested in applying on a voluntary basis, please stop by Campus Life 110 to pick up an application and job description. Applications are due Monday Nov. 30.

Call for Proposals: It’s time to think about applying for an Undergraduate Special Opportunities in Artistry and Research (USOAR) Awards for Academic Year 2009- 2010. The Committee on the Undergraduate Academic Environment (CUAE) is seeking proposals from undergraduate students for projects which will involve them in independent artistry or research, under the supervision of members of the faculty and staff at NIU.  Funds may be requested to support independent artistry and research carried out during part or all of the period March 1, 2010 - February 28, 2011.  The deadline for students to submit ten copies of their proposals to the appropriate college office is December 2, 2009.  The deadline for college offices to submit their proposals to the Vice Provost is January 21, 2010.  The CUAE will recommend funding of up to $2500 for successful student proposals. Undergraduate students are encouraged to be creative in their proposals.  Grants are intended to support a wide range of appropriate activities, including visits to archaeological sites, libraries, museums, and other locations, in this country and overseas, where they would enhance their knowledge through research activities or artistic participation.  Available funds (up to a maximum of $2500 per student) depend on the quality of the project and the nature of the proposed expenses.  Interested students may consult the USOAR website at www.niu.edu/usoar/ for examples of successful project proposals.  The format for the USOAR proposals can be found on our web site, under the “Advising” tab.
